Last week we watched a documentary called Miss representation. It really opened my eyes. Before watching the video I didn't really realise how big an impact the media has on things like eating disorders and body image issues but now that I think of it, it all makes sense. Young girls watch thin actresses that look beautiful on TV and they dream to look like that when they grow up but in reality that isn't possible. Those actresses are really wearing lots of make up and their bodies are touched up by photo shop. I also didn't know how badly female politicians are treated.
I think that women feel pressured to look and act a certain way because from a young age they are taught that one day their prince charming is going to come and sweep them off their feet and they are afraid that they are never going to find that. In Disney movies all the girls are rescued by a prince but most of them are wearing revealing outfits and then as children get older and start watching other movies the girls are all dressed the same way. The way the media dresses these characters make girls think that guys will only like them if they look that way.
Women aren't really helping each other not think like this though because usually the first thing that a woman notices about another woman is her looks and starts judging her about that. They don't think "hey that girl looks smart" they usually think "She's pretty" or "She's not". We can't only blame men. Yeah it is their faults because they were the ones that started what a perfect woman should be, but they aren't all like that. It depends on how their (boys or girls) parents bring them up. If boys are taught that women should be treated equally and with respect from a young age then that's what they will think is right but if they are taught the opposite then that is how they will act. Girls that are taught to be dependent on men and to do whatever they say are going to feel more pressure to act a certain way so that they could find a man. If a girl is taught to be independent and to have a man as a partner in life in stead of like her "boss" ( having the guy tell her what to do and supporting her) it is less likely that she will feel pressure to act like that.
I hope that in the future people will realise how messed up the media is and realise that it isn't always real and start ignoring it's pressures. One day I hope that women stop feeling so pressured and men learn that all women shouldn't look like the ones they see on TV. People should have the same respect if they are males or females.

Dance Field Trip
Last week our class went to the Panorama School Of Dance twice. It was lots of fun. The warm ups that we did were alot harder than I expected. I was a little sore from it the next day. We learned a dance routine to "Die Young" by Kesha. It was lots of fun. That is a field trip that I wouldn't mind going to again :)
Interview Recap
So far, this semester I've been proud of many things. I'm proud of how hard I try during fitness. I am especially proud of the extended beep test that we did in the small gym. I think thats the hardest I've ever tried with any thing to do with the beep test. I'm also proud of the pond run that we did on friday. I'm proud that I push my self and don't just give up like I did in the past.
This semester I learned dance routines. Before that I didn't really do anything like that in P.E. before. I learned how to do some Tae Kwon Do. I've learned how to push myself to try harder and not give up as easily as I used to. I have also learned more about yoga. Before this class I had only done really basic yoga. I look forward to learning and trying more new things during the rest of the semester.
My goal for the end of the course is to be able to run for at least 10 minutes straight. Another goal that I have is to find something physical that I like doing that I can continue doing afrer the semester is over.

Interview
This class has been good so far. Over the past two months I think that I have improved. I can run for a longer time without getting tired and I can feel myself getting stronger. I think that I've try the hardest (fitness wise) on the days that we do 30/30 or circuit and I also really liked the yoga that we did. I like that in this class we do more things like yoga and dance. I used to hate running but i don't mind it as much any more. I like this class so much that i am planning to take it again next year.
Get Fit so far!
I like our get fit class so far. The week that we did dance was fun but sometimes I got a little bit confused. The Woo Kim field trip was new for me. I had never done Tae Kwon Do before that. It was fun but I was a little scared to punch and kick as hard as I could because I didn't want to hurt anyone. If we go again, I think I will give it my all. The two days that we were in the weigh room i really tried. I was sore for a few days afterwards though. I used to hate P.E. but now I look forward to coming to this class everyday :)
The Skating Field Trip
Last Monday our get fit class went on a field trip skating. I wasn't able to go because I had a math test in Block 3 that I couldn't miss. During Block 4, I went to the library and worked on my homework but I didn't know we had to check in with Mr. Hayward. I think that field trips are important. It is a way for our class to have fun and learn new things. I do think though that tests should be more of a priority than field trips because they are usually hard to make up and are a big part of marks in other classes. Overall I like our field trips and I am looking forward to the ones in the future. :)

Interim Report
So far I have been motivated to participate in this class. I think what motivates me is that the class is about getting fit so it doesn't matter if I do really well at first as long as I improve. I like this class more than any of my other P.E. classes in the past. I think I like it better because the class is all girls so people aren't as competitive and we do more things that were considered "girly" (like yoga) in my other classes. I think that my fitness has improved so far. I don't get as tired as quickly and i can run for a longer period of time without getting tired. I think i do contribute to my sucess because i always bring my gym srtip and I always try my best. I think that I could improve by not being as scared to try new things and if I fail just try again ( like trying to go a cart wheel). This semester I would really like to try new things that i probably wouldn't do otherwise ( like maybe pilates or like the bangrha we did today!). I think that we have a great class and this is going to be a good semester! :)
my first month in get fit!
My first month in get fit has been good so far! We have gone on two field trips so far-the grouse grind and splits! It was fun at splits but I was a little bit scared to try some things. I like this class even though it makes me sore sometimes :P It has been fun so far :)
