This morning I came across a video ( on the jacksgap website) that has a whole bunch of clips showing how women were missrepresented in the media throughout 2013. It made me think of the missrepresentation documentry we watched last year in Get Fit. I thought I would post it on here for everyone else to take a look at it. Here's the link.... http://jacksgap.com/media-fail-women-2013/
It really made me think because some of the clips that were in it were things that I've seen throughout the year and I didn't think much of them. The thing that suprised me the most was it showing Miley Cyrus because she chooses to act that way and probably doesn't realize she is missrepresenting women.

Fencing !
Last week we had a lady come to the school and teach our class how to fence. It was a cool experience but I don't think its a thing for me. I didn't really feel very comfortable hitting other people with the blade. I knew that it didn't hurt them but I still felt bad doing it. I don't think its something that I'd want to do again because I didn't feel comfortable so I couldn't really try my best.
Midterm Reflection
This semester in Get Fit has been really fun so far! It has really made me realize that I can actually do alot more than I give myself credit for. My biggest achievment so far this semester is I really pushed myself on the beep test and realized that it isn't actually as bad as I think it is. In the past I have always just stopped around level 4.5 because thats when I would start geting tired and hot and I would think that was all I was capable of. On the last beep test that we did I went up to level 5.5 and after I stopped I felt like I could have kept going and I don't know why I stopped. I think this was a good experience though because now I know that I can keep going and I'm actually capable. I Think it was just a mental thing that I had to push past and now that I have my goal for next time is at least 6.5. Thanuji is my biggest motivator in this class. When we do fitness I always try to keep up with her and in the process I feel really tired hot, and sweaty and sometimes my legs even feel like jelly but in the end I'm always proud of myself and feel like I've really accomplished something. I also always try to motivate my other friends in the class and sometimes even kids that I know that are in younger grades when we do fitness. I also realized that it is really important to take pe. I've noticed that by getting excercise I'm less tired then some of my friends that didn't take it this year. I have some friends that are tired after climbing the stairs and it makes me a little bit proud that I'm not like that. The thing that I'm most proud of this semester though is the extended beep test we did up to level 20. Of all the days we have done fitness that is the day that I can say I actually pushed myself to my limits and did the best I possibly could. The most beeps I would miss were 3 and although I was tempted to miss more I didn't allow myself to. I was so tired at the end of it and even sore the next day. The thing that I'm still looking really forward to in the rest of the semester is the hot yoga field trip and continuing to push myself in fitness. I think that because of all my efforts so far I deserve a really low A (86%) because I still have a lot of room for improvement.

First month and a bit of get fit #2
The past couple weeks of Get Fit has been really fun! We went to the Panorama School of Dance on a field trip. We learned a dance to the song "Slow Down" by Selena Gomez. It was a little bit challenging to learn the steps and the warmups were a little tiring but overall it was very fun.
In class I have been trying to try my best every class. In fitness I have really been pushing myself And am usually sore the next day. One of my goals for this year is I want to improve my beep test score by at least two levels. I find that if we aren't doing the same activity the whole class (ex. running the whole period) and have variety I try harder. Some of the things we've done for fitness that I've liked the most are the activity that we did last week when we worked in groups of three and the stations. I als o liked the locomotive but it got really hared after a while and I had to push myself to not give up. I'm looking forward to the fieldtrips that we have coming up like tae kwon do, fencing and hot yoga!! :)

First Blog Post 2013 :)
I chose to take Get Fit again this year because it was such a positive experience for me. Last year was the first year (of all my highschool years) that I actually enjoyed P.E. and looked forward to it. This semester I'm hoping to keep improving my fitness levels. It had gone down a bit since the end of Get Fit but it is still better than it was at the beginning of last year. I'm really looking forward to this semester! I'm sure it will be just as good as last year!! I can't wait for the field trips and being able to try new activities that I might not experience otherwise! :)

End Of Semester Reflection
This Semester in Get Fit has been better than I expected. It has been full of great memories. I have learned so many new things and activites. This class taught me alot about fitness and also about myself.
I've learned that the only person that is in my way of accomplishing the things that I want is myself. Before I used to tell myself things like "you can't do that so there's no point trying" but now I tell myself things like "you can do it" or "there is no harm in trying". Before I used to give up as soon as I felt uncomfortable but now I've learned to push myself harder when I get to that point. I also started to look for motavation in my friends instead of just myself. This class has made me feel powerful and like I can do anything that I want to.Through this class I got to try many new activites that I hae never tried before like tae kwon do, gymnastics, snow shoeing and the Grouse Grind.
This class made me open up my eyes about the problems that are society has towards women. Watching Missrepresentation made me realise that the standards that society has for women isn't realistic. The women that we usually see on tv and in magazines were photoshopped to look the way they are. It also made me aware of how men don't treat women properly and I've been noticing it since then. It has also made me embrace some of the flaws that I have because it made me realise that all the women the media shows us aren't that perfect in real life.
In my opinion Get Fit has been the best class that I have ever had in terms of physical education. I love this class and I'm sad that it is ending. After this semester is over I plan on staying active by doing things like yoga or workouts from the nike fitness app. When the weather gets warmer I also want to try and do the Grouse Grind again and actually make it to the top. I think my fitness levels have came a long way since then.
I love this class and I'm sad that its ending. I'm going to miss how everyone always has a positive attitude and encourages eachother even though they aren't good friends. I love this class and I want to take it again next year. :)

Snow Shoeing!
Yesterday We went to Mt.Seymour to go Snow shoeing!! It was my first time going before. It was a new and fun thing that I got to experience with my friends. We did the Winter workout version of snow shoeing so it was harder than I expected it would be. While we were snowshoeing we saw these birds called WhiskeyJacks. The scenery and the frozen lakes looked so pretty. Overall it was a fun experience and I wouldn't mind doing it again. :)
